This is a completely random compilation of whatever the heck. Bits and bobs, detritus, hasty scribbles– well, maybe not hasty. Writing webbed site takes too long and is too slow to qualify as "hasty scribbling."
...
Did I make this because I was mad about misplacing a few things when migrating devices and huffily decide to write it down here where local storage's limitations can't cause me as much grief? Maybe!
✨webp can lick my toenails ✨
&format=original
appended to pictures in Firefox (read: .WEBP) to have image served as its original .JPEG, .PNG, etc file type. Doesn't matter how ugly the image's URL is, just clonk it onto the end. It's that easy.
But in case you need an example.
- Open Image in New Tab with a url like:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/paleo-pines/images/5/5e/Styracosaurus.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/100?cb=20230621231602
- Just glue that caboose right on:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/paleo-pines/images/5/5e/Styracosaurus.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/100?cb=20230621231602&format=original
- Congrats, the image in the Firefox tab is now whatever it originally uploaded as (in this case a
.PNG
) which can be saved or dumped into image editing software with no problems!
Alternative, indiscriminate collateral damage option which is more likely to be/become outdated as Firefox versions increment upwards: go into about:config
→ webp
→ image.webp.enabled FALSE
to turn off the .WEBP
file type entirely, in terms of Firefox being able to display it. But a lot of sites get testy and have no fallbacks if you do this so some websites basically stop having pictures.
Vocabulary Corner
- proprioception - the sense of body position and self-movement. Basically, the thing that for example lets you instinctively know where your hand is right now so you don't bang it into something when you turn around.
- anomic aphasia (AKA dysnomia, nominal aphasia, amnesic aphasia) - a comparatively mild type of aphasia (language processing error) of "word retrieval failure." The aphasia for when you know what to say but get stuck trying to remember what the word for it is. The mildest form of this is experienced by basically everyone; it's when this is routinely troublesome, or you're suddenly beset by a lot of it out of nowhere, that it rises to the level of Medically Interesting (derogatory).
